The Truth is heavy.
By Dean Minuto
There's a quote that sums up for me much of the learning from this book: "The Truth is heavy. That's why few care to carry it."
I met Nina when I was presenting to CEO Groups myself-- and I bought her book, even though she offered to give it to me. I'm glad I paid for it because now I am free to comment without feeling any pressure of reciprocity.
And I realized after taking time to really think about the "heavy Truth" revealed in this book that I have been paying for my relationship mistakes for years-- paying a price with my time, with my emotions, and with my heart...
Although I didn't let Nina give me the book, she has given me a gift by writing the Truth.
Anyone who is truly interested in getting better results than they have gotten-- should stop doing what they've always done.
This book has helped me to see a path to get to those better results.

best dating book for men
By Gamin
I'm recently divorced, in my 50s, and wanted a plan to be smart about looking for a new wife. I've read quite a few books but this is the best one once you start lining up dates. I just had one of the conversations recommended with a great woman I've seen 6 times now and it solidified the slowly growing bond. These aren't manipulative techniques, but rather wholesome guidelines to seeking and assessing a future mate with the greatest integrity.

The Baptism, by Shelia P. Moses

When you turn twelve in Occoneechee Neck in Jackson, North Carolina, everything changes. You get to do stuff you couldn't do when you were eleven. And it means it's time to get baptized.

Twin brothers Leon and Luke Curry turned twelve last month. Ma has given them one week in which to do right -- to cleanse themselves of their sinning ways and get themselves ready for the baptism. Next Sunday they will go down to the "mornin' bench" at church, sit in front of Reverend Webb, and be saved. It will be a glorious day. But that's only if Twin Leon and Twin Luke can keep themselves out of trouble. Which is easier said than done when you've lost your daddy and have a new stepfather; when you have a bullying big brother who plays tricks on you; and when it's summertime and all you want to do is go fishing instead of working in the fields.

How Twin Leon and Twin Luke stick together to face the odds as only twelve-year-old boys can do, managing to save themselves while also unexpectedly saving their entire family in a week's time, is the heart of this moving, often funny, and often poignant novel.

From School Library Journal
Grade 4–6—Returning to Northampton County, NC, the setting for her Buddy Bush novels (S & S), Moses introduces 12-year-old African-American twins Leon and Luke. The time period is left undefined, but has a recent historical feel. Leon, the narrator, is free with his opinions on just about everything, including his brothers, his mother, his stepfather, and his upcoming baptism. He saves his worst scorn for "White Cousin," a bully and one of the many white people in the area who have unacknowledged blood ties to Leon's family and other black residents. Leon's mother believes that the twins need to show that they are ready to be saved before the baptism, but Leon can't seem to give up sinning even for a week. The baptism is the focal point of the story, but differs quite a lot from how most churched kids will have experienced it, giving the subject a somewhat limited appeal. Despite this, Leon is spirited and engaging. The minor characters are less fully developed, but the setting is evocative, with definite regional appeal. The ending includes a positive step toward reconciliation between races. Those who haven't read the previous novels won't have any trouble following this one. With its large font and trim length, it could also work for last-minute book reports.—Faith Brautigam, Gail Borden Public Library, Elgin, IL

From Booklist
Set in the same North Carolina rural community in the 1940s as Moses' first novel, The Legend of Billy Bush (2004), a Coretta Scott King Honor Book, and its sequel, The Return of Buddy Bush (2006), this story is told by Buddy's 12-year-old cousin, Leon, who, with his twin, Luke, is preparing to be baptized. Slavery is gone, but racist oppression isn't: Papa was murdered by a white man, black people "still work for white folks and take their orders all day," and black children continue to leave school to pick tobacco and cotton. But then there's Ma's caring white brother, who helps her. The family story, the heart of the novel, is honest about the raging anger, the jealousy, and also the love in the family, which is led by tough, caring Ma. But Leon isn't quite sure what family means. Sharp and immediate, the boy's narrative draws on Moses' own family story as it brings close the cruel secrets of slavery's legacy as well as the powerful ties of family during hard times. Oh brother, where art thou?
By E. R. Bird
I have a love/hate relationship with the books of Sheila Moses. No. Wait. Let me correct that. More of a love/severe dislike relationship. Which is to say that when she wrote, The Legend of Buddy Bush I loved it. Anachronistic yellow telephone and all. But then she followed it up with The Return of Buddy Bush and I didn't like where she'd taken the novel. In both of those books a Ms. Pattie Mae is the protagonist, telling the tale of her Uncle Buddy's trials (both literal and figurative). By the end of "Return", though, I found I seriously didn't like my narrator anymore. She did not appeal. But remembering how much I liked "Legend", when I picked up the third in Moses's series, I had high hopes. Hopes that were never disappointed. In "The Baptism" we have ourselves an entirely new narrator, a new set of circumstances, and a great little story that deserves a lot more serious attention than it has so far received.

"I figure I have six days to sin all I want to. Luke got six days too, if he will go along with the plan." Twin Leon knows the drill. You turn twelve and suddenly you're expected to give up all the fun stuff that goes along with being a kid. Part of that? Getting baptized and sinning no more. Well he knows the deal and he knows he doesn't want any part of it. Sure, it's his Ma's intention to get him on the "morning bench" where he'll be accepted and baptized, but that doesn't fit in with Leon's plans. Plus he has a lot to deal with these days. His older brother (who he's dubbed "Joe Nasty") is a sneak who doesn't do any work. His stepfather ("Filthy Frank") is a no good cheat and gambler. His twin brother Luke ("Twin Luke") is some kind of Mr. Perfect. And his mom is constantly on his case about being good this week and not sinning. In the course of eight days, Leon will get into trouble, fight the elements, escape from work, get pulled away from fun, and witness the breaking apart and coming together of his remarkably strong family. Set in rural North Carolina during the 1940s, this novel explores big themes with a small intricate little novel.

If there's one thing Sheila Moses does well it's write characters with minds entirely of their own. The kids in her books are so headstrong and smart that it's a wonder that even their author is able to wrangle them into place from scene to scene. In Twin Leon you have such a great kid. Anyone who can say right at the start that if baptizing means not sinning then they just won't get baptized is going to be fun to watch. But when Leon catalogs his sins you can see that they aren't all lighthearted Dennis-the-Menace-type romps. He lies, and steals extra cookies, and beats up kids cause they're white, and calls his older brother Joe Nasty because he doesn't bathe regularly. Moses slips in the serious with the silly so skillfully you might miss it if you blinked. At the same time, she asks big questions couched in the mind of a twelve-year-old boy.

Leon's slow change over the course of a week from unapologetic sinner to baptismal hopeful happens over a brief span of time but never feels false or hurried. Really, it's amazing that Moses is able to pack in as much as she does. There's Leon's story regarding the baptism, and his various pranks and problems. Then there's the story of Buddy Bush on the side. There's also the story of Leon's mom and her husband Filthy Frank and how she has to stand up to her abusive new husband. And THEN there's a story in there regarding the family and how they're not too distantly related to a local white family because of their long dead patriarch's philandering during slave times. All this and the story is fast-paced, punchy, and consistently engaging.

It's a shorter book than its predecessors. Standing at a mere slip of 144 pages, it's amazing that Moses is able to pack in as much thoughtful commentary as she has. It's an exercise in watching an author get right to the heart of a concept without extra frills and furbelows. That isn't to say that she doesn't punch up the language in all the right parts. Twin Luke, the kiss-up, sometimes agrees with his mom, "like he was going to eat the shoes right off her feet." The sun coming out behind the rain is what happens when "the devil is beating his wife." Older brother Joe Nasty hearing about the crimes of his stepfather gets angry and, "All the man in Joe Nasty just rise up like the water down in the river right after a big rain." And Twin Leon is prone to saying things that just sound good when you read them aloud. "She know that God know I don't want to get baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and nobody else. I just want to go home and shoot marbles."

Now Ms. Moses hasn't entirely grasped the concept of the stand alone novel yet. As such, she's placed this book in a kind of award jeopardy by including an ending that, not to give anything away, places undue importance on the books that preceded "The Baptism". This book does hearken back to the other "Buddy Bush" books she's written, but for the most part you really don't need to have read them to enjoy this story. Unfortunately, the last moment in the book falls a bit flat. It doesn't ruin the story or anything, but it's a distracting coda in an otherwise forthright novel.

Altogether, this is a keeper. Some people might try to convince you that due to some of the serious themes that come up, this is a young adult novel. Personally, I do not agree. It's got all the kid-appeal and excitement an eight to twelve-year-old would want, but is also packed full of thoughts and ideas that make it perfect for book discussion. A great addition and quite possibly Moses's best work yet.

well, it IS what you love about Domino...but nothing new
By Georgia C.
I am a major Domino fan. I have been reading it for two years, living vicariously through its profiles of well-heeled decorators and clients, and the resulting photo shoots. I never used to read decorating magazines because I found them a little stuffy or hilarious, but Domino strikes the right balance between whimsy and realistic. So the book - 4 stars. Why not 5 stars for a 10 star magazine?

The book is, well, a rehash of Domino photos for the past few years. The book is a roundup of decorating elements that have appeared in the magazine - patterns, objects, furniture, objets d'art - and they are presented in a format similar to the Lucky Magazine book on fashion. (Both magazines are published by same company.) The book is high on pictures but low on practical advice. You see pictures, a summary of key elements (as in shapes of furniture, a few keywords about the style). There is some information on how to go about the process of DIY decorating or the professional route, but I really missed the details on where to buy what you saw in a picture, or the personal commentary from people who participated in the decorating that makes the actual magazine so great. I think a major element of Domino's success was to hear how living in a room felt like, and these rooms were beloved because they were very habitable, not at all untouchable or filled with dangerous-looking items (Kelly Wearstler, I'm looking at you). But here you just get the end result, without the process, which is what decorating and creativity are all about.

I would recommend this to people who have NOT ever read Domino, or who don't have the patience for it and would prefer to just look at pictures for ideas on how to fix a room, or to get a sense of what they do like. Faithful Domino subscribers (and the book does include a subscription) might prefer to stick with the back issues. I wish I hadn't been forced to throw mine away due to a move to a smaller place, so this book is a nice resource, but it does not measure up to the real thing.

Some pluses, however, since I would like to end on a positive note for a magazine I've really adored:
- great section on small spaces and how to deal, particularly for renters
- how to put together a not-embarrassing kid's room (!)
- love the hand-drawn illustrations (not found in the real magazine)

Ideally, I'd give it a 3.5/5.

Not for everyone
By mreece
After hearing such rave reviews for this book, I eagerly waited for it's arrival and gobbled it up the moment I held it in my hand. Unfortunately, I was left with much disappointment. There are some good points for newbie decorators like myself - how to find your sense of style, how to go about decorating a room from scratch, etc - but this is within the first 20-something pages of the book and information that you'll likely find displayed on many design blogs. I also liked that in each section, the authors give an overview of different furniture styles, pros and cons, and what they would match well with. But other than that, you can tell that this book was written for a certain crowd and not the average household. Most of the design examples are in lofts with tall ceilings and seemingly endless space and not in a traditional space ie: moderately sized rectangular rooms with doors and windows to consider. There are some small-space examples but the authors seemed to forget an equally important space size - medium! Homes are not either big or small; some are moderate and I really wished that the book had more examples of that size, along with more traditional floor plans. The floor plans would have been extremely helpful if I had a loft, an oddly shaped room, or something that looks to be a 30x20 ft room.

Outside of the sizing issue, I think that the design elements of the book are for 20-something art decorators with small or no children and their friends. Most of the examples seem either really cluttered or completely spartan but of course, most of the photos only show a small part of the room and you have to take the author's word that the other half of the space blends seamlessly with the small section that we see. I do like some of the suggestions given but I feel like the examples didn't convey it properly for me - nothing wrong with Domino on that part; it's just my personal taste.

I don't know what exactly to call Domino's style since it seems to be just random stuff thrown together [which I usually like but it didn't work for me in the examples given] but if you're into the loft, art-deco, shabby chic [to the extreme] look then this book would be perfect for you. Otherwise, you may want to look elsewhere.

Brilliant!
By consumerifica
More often that not decorating books are just eye candy; after read them once you are satisfied but done. This is NOT the case with domino's first book. The domino team has managed to create a book that you will keep reading it again and again. It is simply brilliant!

Even though I have kept every issue of domino and go through them regularly, the book's format allows for a deeper approach to domino's mission. They have really worked hard to make the book into a usable tool. With more than just pretty pictures and stories, this book provides a framework for how to think about putting together a room (and yes their is new content).

I am only disappointed in two ways: 1, I wish the book referenced the issue each in which each room originally appeared and/or provided information about the products in each room. Perhaps there was not enough space, but access to information is one of my favorite parts of domino's monthly. 2, They also overlooked closets as room. And lets face it they have featured some stunning closets over the past few years.

Buy this book, you will NOT regret it!!!

... a group of characters that the reader grows to love. King
By Tanasia Thomas
J Peach created a group of characters that the reader grows to love. King, Peaches, and their friends grip the reader into their clutches and will not let them go. King is the overprotective big brother who wants what is best for his sister but Peaches is a hot head with a quick temper who loves to fight and carry weapons. You grow to love them both because Peaches is a woman fighting desperately to get out from under the clutches of her brother and become her own woman. Then, there is Blaze, a recently released convict who claims Peaches as his own and will do anything to have her, including hurting anyone who wants her. This story kept me on my toes and, despite his less than traditional approach, it actually has you torn between Peaches being with Sly and being with Blaze. In the end, I chose Blaze and I will continue through this series to see how the lovers I am rooting for turn out. Pick this book up and don't put it down. Great job J Peach.

OMG. This title definitely fits it's story. Blaze is one psychotic deranged individual. I can't seem to understand why Peaches was attracted to Blaze. I also don't understand why king was so overprotective of Peaches. She was a grown woman and still had to ask to date or go out. If you want a good read this would be the one for you. I can't wait for pt.2 to drop. The *****was well deserved. Great job J Peach

The Man Who Inspired the World's Fastest-Growing Religion

Muhammad presents a fascinating portrait of the founder of a religion that continues to change the course of world history. Muhammad's story is more relevant than ever because it offers crucial insight into the true origins of an increasingly radicalized Islam. Countering those who dismiss Islam as fanatical and violent, Armstrong offers a clear, accessible, and balanced portrait of the central figure of one of the world's great religions.

Amazon.com Review
Muhammad was born in 570 CE, and over the following sixty years built a thriving spiritual community, laying the foundations of a religion that changed the course of world history. There is more historical data on his life than on that of the founder of any other major faith, and yet his story is little known.

Karen Armstrong's immaculately researched new biography of Muhammad will enable readers to understand the true origins and spirituality of a faith that is all too often misrepresented as cruel, intolerant, and inherently violent. An acclaimed authority on religious and spiritual issues, Armstrong offers a balanced, in-depth portrait, revealing the man at the heart of Islam by dismantling centuries of misconceptions. Armstrong demonstrates that Muhammad's life—a pivot point in history—has genuine relevance to the global crises we face today.

From Booklist
Armstrong's second biography of Islam's prophet is lucid and stylish, never condescending. It puts the best face possible on its subject. The Muhammad it projects gave his followers "a mission: to create a just and decent society, in which all members were treated with respect." Moreover, Armstrong's Muhammad behaved justly and decently while he lived, though perhaps a bit according to the stringent standards of Arab culture at the time. He taught tolerance toward Jews and Christians. Never mind--Armstrong doesn't--about denials of civil equality to non-Muslims and fulminations about them as "infidels." The Jewish clan whose men were exterminated after a particular battle? It wasn't that they were Jews but that they were traitors, and it wasn't Muhammad who decided they should be executed. The fact that, after declaring that Muslim men could have no more than four wives, Muhammad himself exceeded the limit? Hey, a leader has to make alliances with other groups. A nicely written book, but don't let it be the only biography of Muhammad you read. Ray Olson

Karen Armstrong’s sympathetic profile paints a portrait of a very human prophet (Wall Street Journal)

A good glimpse of how the vast majority of the world’s Muslims understand their prophet. (New York Times)

Respectful, knowledgeable, and, above all, readable. It succeeds because [Armstrong] brings Muhammad to life as a fully rounded human being. (The Economist)

A useful short history
By Ed Lewis
Karen Armstrong's book provides a brief introduction to the life of Mohammed. At the end she offers her motivation: "If we are to avoid catastrophe, Muslim and Christian worlds must learn not merely to tolerate but to appreciate one another."

I picked up this book as a lifelong atheist who has never had much sympathy for any religion, although I respect the rights of others to their beliefs. I was looking for information because I am disturbed at the prevalence in the media and elsewhere of hate propaganda against Muslims. If I'm being told I should hate something, I want to know why.

Armstrong traces the rise of Islam to an economic revolution that occurred in Arabia in the seventh century, largely due to the growing importance of trade in a nomadic grazing economy.

She looks briefly at the rise of monotheism in the newly emerging cities, particularly Mecca, and the emergence of Islam from that as Mohammed's revelations provided a body of scripture for Arab monotheism.

Mohammed and others considered his revelations divine, the word of god. In that, he's not alone, as many religions consider the thoughts of brilliant people among their founders to have been divinely inspired. The poetic nature of Mohammed's revelations and their relevance to the social situation of their time led to their survival, and later followers of Islam used them to understand their own social situations, down to the present time. In this Islam is no different to any other religion.

Armstrong describes the decade-long struggle between Mecca and Medina, which was an economic and political struggle that took religious form, and the eventual triumph of the Muslims of Medina.

In doing so she disentangles, so far as possible, the secular from the religious aspects of this history and proves that war and conversion by the sword are not necessary parts of Islam, as the peddlars of hate and fear try to claim.

Thanks to Karen Armstrong for a brief, careful and clear-headed look at the life of Mohammed and the origins of Islam.

Polemics not history
By Willy Richardson
Karen Armstrong has written books on every world religion and many spiritual leaders, I wonder if she is the author of perhaps too many topics, and spread herself thin?

In her introduction she compares Muhammad to Gandhi without offering an explanation... Gandhi? Ghandhi was in a political disadvantage and used non-violence to bring about radical change. Later in Armstrong's book she states,"No radical social and political change has ever been achieved without bloodshed, and, because Muhammad was living in a period of confusion and disintegration, peace could be achieved only by the sword." This is one example of her many contradictions.

She often made statements that assumed her readers were brought up as Christians, and seemed to side with God in her claim that the enemies of Muhammad had perverted the true order. She also made mistakes that led me to question her reliability as a historian. For example, she inferred that the Qu'ran is written in chronological order! (The Qu'ran is ordered from longest to shortest chapters). I would have preferred more source quotes, more historical facts and less conjecture.

Her book shows Muhammad in a positive light, which is refreshing, but she seems to be defending his every move, including the historical accounts that are less than holy - the attacks Muhammad made on the Quraysh, Jews, and non-believers was portrayed by Armstrong as pro-active defensive measures...

I enjoyed a few passages when Armstrong's personal interludes were kept down to a minimum and the history of a fascinating man and time and place unfolded. It's quite an accomplishment for someone to carve a nation from warring tribes in a harsh and unyielding environment. But for the most part I felt like I had to read between the lines.

Definitely not a historical book. Falls into the category of polemics.

A Much Needed Look at a Very Contemporary Man
By Wayne Beckham
Karen Armstrong's Muhammad: A Prophet for Our Time directly addresses the central conflict of our times, "Some Muslim thinkers regard the jihad against Mecca as the climax of Muhammad's career and fail to note that he eventually abjured warfare and adopted a nonviolent policy. Western critics also persist in seeing the Prophet of Islam as a man of war, and fail to see that from the very first he was opposed to the jahili arrogance and egotism that not only fueled the aggression of his time but is much in evidence in some leaders, Western and Muslim alike, today."

Karen goes out of her way to present a balanced and fair perspective on the life of Muhammad. She does this by basing her biography on the Prophet's response to al-Jahiliyah: commonly translated as "an Islamic concept of 'ignorance of divine guidance.'" Karen examinees more than Jahiliyah's theological significance, going into its practical impact on the culture of the Arabian peninsula. The dominant jahili spirit of the time was arrogant, quick to take a offense, warlike and vengeful. Islam, as practiced and taught by the Prophet, Karen makes clear, was a rejection of all of these traits - usually to the great consternation of his followers:

"And the servants of Allah, Most Gracious are those who walk on the earth in humility, and when the ignorant (jahilun) address them, they say, `Peace!' " (Sura The Criterion 25:63 - translation from The Qur'an: Text, Translation & Commentary.)

The revelations that form the Qur'an came to Muhammad not always in dreams or trances, but were sometimes aggressive even terrifying experiences. Muhammad describes the nature of revelation as gently falling like rain" and, at other times, traumatically, where he feels his "soul ripped away."

After revelation, even the Prophet needed to take time to understand what had been revealed. Karen writes, "[Allah] instructed Muhammad to listen to intently to each revelation as it emerged; he must be careful not to impose a meaning on a verse prematurely, before it's full significance had become entirely clear."

"High above all is Allah, the King, the Truth! Be not in haste with the Qur'an before its revelation to thee is completed, but say, "O my Lord! advance me in knowledge." (Sura Ta-ha, 20:114)

Karen, like others, notes that the Qur'an itself has been structured as high-level Arabic poetry, a concept central to the impact of the Qur'an on its Arabic audiences. This is a point entirely missed by Western audiences. You can get some sense of it by listening to a good chanter reciting the verses, but it's a shallow appreciation at best. Karen describes how listening to "the rich, allusive language and rhythms of the Qur'an helped [the Muslims] to slow down their mental processes and enter a different mode of consciousness."

Karen portrays, through the biography, the Qur'an's shared vision of the "people of the book" - the Islamic concept of a shared heritage of monotheism between Muslim, Christian and Jew:

"Say: `We believe in Allah, and in what has been revealed to us and what was revealed to Abraham, Isma'il, Isaac, Jacob, and the Tribes, and in (the Books) given to Moses, Jesus, and the prophets, from their Lord: We make no distinction between one and another among them, and to Allah do we bow our will [lahu muslimun].' " (Sura The Family Of 'Imran 3:84)

In addition to the creed that there's "no God but God" these three great religions believe in a similar destiny and consequently all deserve both tolerance and freedom to practice their faith:

"Those who believe (in the Qur'an), those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Sabians and the Christians,- any who believe in Allah and the Last Day, and work righteousness,- on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve." (Sura The Table 5:69)

"To thee We sent the Scripture in truth, confirming the scripture that came before it, and guarding it in safety: so judge between them by what Allah hath revealed, and follow not their vain desires, diverging from the Truth that hath come to thee. To each among you have we prescribed a law and an open way. If Allah had so willed, He would have made you a single people, but (His plan is) to test you in what He hath given you: so strive as in a race in all virtues. The goal of you all is to Allah. It is He that will show you the truth of the matters in which ye dispute[.]" (Sura The Table, 5:48)

I have a couple of minor complaints. I wish that Karen had used the Qur'anic names for the characters that both the Holy Bible and the Holy Qur'an have in common. For example, Jibr'l for Gabriel; Ibrahim for Abraham; Isa for Jesus; Musa for Moses, and so on. After all, Karen is telling the story of Muhammad and quotes extensively from the Qur'an. It just would have seemed more natural and less distracting to me.

Another problem is that the book is edited sloppily in a couple of places: for example on page 43 (of my paper bound edition) a footnote starts out explaining that "Arabs customarily take an honorary title known as the kunya [...] Muhammad was known as"

And the footnote ends right there. Whatever Muhammad was known as, was lost somewhere between Karen's word-processor and the printing press.

Karen's biography of Muhammad reveals a very human prophet; a man who struggled with his faith, culture, peers and enemies. She strikes a balance between the "easy" teachings of Islam (tolerance, generosity, etc.) and the "hard" teachings, contrasting "jihad" to Augustine's "just war" is a comparison most Christian minds would prefer to avoid.

Karen ends the book with some good advice, "If we are to avoid catastrophe, the Muslim and Western worlds must learn not merely to tolerate but to appreciate one another. A good place to start is with the figure of Muhammad [...]"

All in all, this was an interesting read, only occasionally "preachy" and a good introduction for those who may want to pursue deeper studies in Islam or the Islamic culture that has so dramatically shaped the Middle East. I wish I'd read it before tackling In the Footsteps of the Prophet: Lessons from the Life of Muhammad. It would have made that book a lot clearer.

What about this tooth fairy person? What does he want with all these teeth anyway? These are just some of the questions answered in the "Modern Myth" series.

The series begins with "The Fourth Night before Christmas." Gargog, the wickedest dragon of all (but certainly not the smartest) launches a diabolical scheme to destroy the countryside and stop Christmas forever. The only one who has a chance to stop the evil scheme is a timid hare who would rather mind his own business. Can a tiny hare muster the courage to foil the wicked plans of Gargog the dragon, or will he betray Santa to save his own furry skin?

About the Author
Jason began writing in college some twenty years ago. A strong interest in fantasy and adventure led him to explore the children's genre. Children's stories are by far the most "fun" for him to write. Jason and his loving, extremely patient, wife have three children and two grandchildren. Other members of the family include a demanding feline and an eighty pound yellow lab that thinks he is a lap puppy. They live in a small town in Southern Indiana where Jason owns a business and serves as director of the local community foundation.

A must read book for parents to share with their children!
By Amazon Customer
Twas' The Fourth Night of Christmas is a holiday book to read.

This story uses animals a fierce dragon and a gentle hare to show how good wins over evil.

It's easy to read and one that parents will love sharing with their children.

I enjoyed the author using the Winter Solstice and Christmas together. The solstice touches on the evil of the darkness during that time of year in which the longest day occurred. The season of Christmas brings light and safety to people as the days become longer.

I thought using a hare was great. He knew what had to be done and went about doing it no matter the cost. The moral of good overcoming evil is shown extremely well in this story.

My five-year-old great nephew as well as older children I shared this story with loved it.

Jason Jones is a unique writer and I am looking forward to more of his stories.
