Simple, Readable, Clear, Down to earth, Humorous, Applicable

This is a great book about public speaking, thinking clearly, communicating effectively, and life in general.
"Have a message, and then think of yourself as a Western Union boy instructed to deliver it. We pay slight attention to the boy. It is the telegram we want. The message -- that is the thing. Keep your mind on it. Keep your heart in it. Know it like the back of your hand. Believe it feelingly. Then talk as if you were determined to say it. Do that, and the chances are ten to one that you will soon be master of the occasion and master of yourself."

Public Speaking Jewel!

I joined a ToastMasters club and ordered this book to help me with the numerouse speeches I am required to give. It was a great help and reinforced some of my own natural abilities. The stories of other successful speakers were very enlightening. There were several books he recommended reading and I bought some of them. They also proved to be great reading. Great buy!

Good book - lots of helpful tips!

Even though this book was written long ago, the advice it contains is still relevant and extremely useful. By the time I finished reading it, I had doggy-eared probably half the book! Some parts were a little hard to understand because of the era it was written, but I just kept reading and found it very helpful. Gives concrete examples on how to apply the suggestions! (and there are many, from how to improve your confidence in speaking, to improving your opening and closing, to how to keep your audience interested and more!)
Will keep and read probably 3-4 more times or more in the next few years.
